Bounmy's Journey: From Laos to Your Table

Bounmy Sayasy was born in Laos at a time when the country was caught in the crossfire of the Vietnam War. When the conflict spread across the border, her family joined thousands of others fleeing into Thailand, seeking safety at the refugee camps that had formed along the Mekong River.

Life in the camp was hard. Resources were scarce, community was everything, and food became one of the few ways people held onto who they were. That is where Bounmy met the man who would become her husband. Two people from the same corner of the world, finding each other in an unlikely place.

Through the generosity of a sponsorship program, Bounmy and her family were eventually able to come to America. They settled, built a life, raised children, and created a home. And in that home, Bounmy kept cooking.

Her kitchen became the center of everything. Birthdays, holidays, ordinary Sundays. The food was always Lao. The flavors were always the ones she had grown up with, the same recipes her mother made, carried across an ocean in her memory.

The hot sauce you are holding right now is that memory made tangible. It is made with the same care she has always put into feeding the people she loves. We just want to share it a little further.

We are proud to tell her story, and we are grateful every time someone puts her sauce on their table.
